Subsea instruments are typically recovered on command using an acoustic release. If the instrument breaks free early, or later if the acoustic release fails, then the KiwiSat® Argos marker is invaluable for successful salvage of instruments.
It combines an Argos location beacon which provides a global position in near real time to get you within a few hundred metres and a VHF beacon for close range tracking of the instrument to aid pick-up.
The Lotek KiwiSat® Argos Marker provides the peace of mind that instruments and gear deployed in the field may be recovered should they break free from their moorings.
