    We are looking for a skilled Network Support Specialist to join our team and help us maintain and enhance our IT infrastructure. This is an existing opportunity available at our Newmarket location. Our IT team is responsible for the overall maintenance, health and security of our global Lotek IT network and enterprise applications, as well as support staff in all our locations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot a wide variety of corporate IT systems, including desktops/laptops, servers, network switching, VLANS storage, and mobile devices.
    • Build, upgrade, monitor, and troubleshoot virtual technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
    • Administer and monitor Office 365 activity, including user setup, compliance, and security.
    • Manage Azure Entra and Azure subscriptions, and support the deployment of cloud computing projects.
    • Assist developers with managing Azure DevOps.
    • Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot backup and Disaster Recovery solutions.
    • Manage remote connectivity and security solutions, including firewall management and network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
    • Support staff working remotely using VPN and Microsoft Teams.
    • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software, and operating systems.
    • Manage hardware, applications, and support staff in remote locations.
    • Maintain corporate phone solutions in all plants (3CX, Rogers and Mitel systems)
    • Work closely with the IT Manager to research, propose new solutions, plan upgrades, and manage cybersecurity policies
    • Participate in contract negotiation, vendor management, IT purchasing, and project planning
    • Share knowledge in areas of IT expertise with other team members.
    • Escalate complex issues to the IT Manager or other team members as required.
    • Provide IT training and support to Lotek staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline.
    • Proven experience in IT network support or a similar role.
    • Strong knowledge of corporate IT systems, virtual technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and Office 365 administration.
    • Experience with backup and Disaster Recovery solutions (VEEAM, Azure, SQL Management)
    • Proficiency in managing remote connectivity and security solutions.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.

  • Technical Sales - Avian Telemetry Specialist

We are seeking someone with technical ability for the role of Avian Telemetry Specialist. Our Avian Segment is a team within our Marketing and Sales Department which leads the distribution of our highly specialized products. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys discussing technical equipment needs with those conducting important research on animal behaviour and the environment, in a way that makes a positive contribution to the quality of life. It’s an exciting time for research using the latest tracking developments in a growing market.

    Duties:

    As a member of our Global Avian Segment, you will be responsible for international sales of GPS satellite, radio and archival tracking technologies. These provide the animal’s perspective on many topics including changes in the environment.
    This career opportunity places you in the middle of decisions that set the balance between human activities and wildlife conservation. Your primary contacts are researchers at Universities, Government Agencies, NGO’s, and Wildlife Consultants, to identify and advise on their research objectives and potential telemetry requirements.

    The role also allows you the opportunity to feedback information from the researchers you meet, to inform our development programs.

    International travel is estimated at 6-10 weeks per year attending conferences and visiting contacts and prospects.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    As a minimum, the successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree. Biological/Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering or Business preferred. Graduate Degree, MBA, would be an asset. A minimum of 3+ years in related field is preferred.

This position will also liaise extensively with production and product management to ensure customers’ expectations of product delivery and product features are met.

    The Opportunity:

    Lotek’s Sales and Marketing Department in Newmarket, Ontario has a really cool opportunity for the right person. We are seeking a highly motivated Account Manager for the Wildlife Segment. This position includes some North American travel for approximately 8 weeks per year.

    Requirements:

    As a minimum, the successful candidate must have a University degree in Business (MBA preferred), Biology, Environmental Science or Engineering. A minimum of four years sales experience (technical preferred) is required with a demonstrated successful track record.
    The candidate must be a ‘hunter’, a problem solver, detail oriented and critical thinker with excellent verbal and written communication skills. An interest in and an awareness of ecological issues is an asset. You see feedback or failure as motivation to learn and to grow.
