Our PinPoint GPS tags can be made to last longer by using solar housing. Lightweight casing gives a starting weight under 7g. We have considered the aerodynamics of the tag, while still providing a large surface area for the solar panels. There are a variety of designs to improve the exposure of the solar panels to the sun, including transparent domes or feather grooves, which maintain the streamlined format, and provide harness attachment points. No need for tag retrieval. Accurate GPS locations are taken at times/dates programmed by you to meet the requirement of your study. The locations are then automatically relayed via Argos satellites from anywhere in the world, ready to be downloaded online. Please ask one of our Telemetry Specialists to get a study-specific estimate of the optimal schedule.

Pinpoint GPS Argos Solar tags work well for determining habitat selection, home range movements, and/or multi-year migration patterns. Ideal for species who spend sufficient time in the sun, the solar tag permits long-term tracking while minimizing weight.
The addition of the programmable VHF beacon allows you or supplement your location data, or track the tag after a predation event.

A PinPoint DLC is required for scheduling the tag, and downloading locations if it is retrieved after deployment.
