- Integrated design
- All tracking, data collection, data storage and communication functions
are incorporated into a single compact instrument. Additional interconnected
data storage devices are not required.
- Informative LCD display
- 24 character x 2 line LCD display affords view of complete six digit
frequency display, numeric value of receiver gain setting as well
as scan/operating status messages, menu prompts, diagnostic messages,
etc. Screen backlight can be switched on or off to aid in viewing
or conserve power.
- User-definable scan times
- Scan rate is user selected from 0.1 second to 10 minutes in 0.1
second increments affording greater ability to optimize scan times.
- Separate controls for audio & gain
- Separate audio (knob) and gain (keypad) controls ensure maximum
detectability of signal and listening comfort. Actual level of gain
is displayed on the LCD.
- Remote communications through RS-232
port
- RS-232 port fully configurable to provide serial communications
to an external computer or Hayes compatible modem for remote communications
via telephone, cellular phone or satellite transmitter.
- Audio noise blanking
- Operator switchable audio noise blanking virtually eliminates background
noise from the audio output. This feature greatly enhances user comfort
level when manual tracking.
- Frequency recall
- Individual deleted frequencies or whole tables can be recalled using
the keypad. Re-entering each frequency for subsequent field studies
is thereby unnecessary.
- High resolution signal strength display
- Relative signal strength can be displayed in numeric or graphic
formats with 0.25 dB resolution. This is particularly useful for left/right
direction finding in aircraft or for determining location of transmitters
at close quarters. Signal strength can be accessed while in the scan
routine.
- Convenient frequency memory tables
- User can store frequencies in any one of 16 non-volatile partition
memory tables. Each table can be scanned separately providing optimum
scanning flexibility/efficiency when animals are located in different
geographic areas or are groups in separate studies.
- Remote loading of frequency tables
- Frequency lists can be uploaded/downloaded from a computer to the
receiver frequency tables via the RS-232 port. This feature enables
customizing of frequency tables via any office computer prior to field
work, e.g., integration of tables from other researchers prior to
a flight.
- Automatic scanning
- Scan mode allows user to define/scan range of frequencies until
an active signal is found. Maximum signal intensity is determined
and displayed with the frequency.
- Flexible pulse display
- Either pulse rate (beats per minute) or interval period (milliseconds)
can be displayed, allowing you to both identify signals and determine
temperature data from pulse rate or interval.
