The LTD_1100 Series - Economical time, temperature and depth recorders

The LTD_1000 family of tags records a time series of temperature and depth (absolute pressure) measurements to provide insight into detailed animal behavior. Designed for fisheries management and research, these tags offer a wide range of features and specifications to suit your study's needs, from the extremely small and economical LTD_1100 series to the extended life and deep diving LTD_1400 series.

The LTD_1100 series of temperature and depth recorders are surprisingly small, extremely simple to use, and economical. Both external (LTD_1100) and internal (LTD_1110) versions are available with a wide range of depth measuring ratings and several memory configurations.

Several ingenious features are incorporated in this product, eliminating the user's requirement to configure the tag prior to deployment. These features also optimize tag performance, including memory usage and pressure resolution, as they adapt to operational conditions.

Time Extension Recording
The configuration of tags normally requires anticipating the mission length and the animal's behavior to set the appropriate sampling interval. Time Extension Recording (TER) is an advanced memory management feature that adjusts the sampling interval as recording proceeds so that, regardless of the length of the recording session, the record is detailed and the full session is recorded. TER continuously optimizes memory usage over the entire deployment. Temperature and Pressure are sampled at the same moment for ease of data analysis.

Here's how TER works: the logger begins recording at a base sampling interval of 1 sample every 14.063 seconds or 256 samples per hour. When its memory is full, the logger doubles its sampling interval and continues recording, overwriting every other sample in memory, and when its memory is filled at that sampling interval it doubles its sampling interval again. The process can repeat almost indefinitely. You can download a record of the full recording session at any time. As an option, a maximum interval can be specified at time of purchase to prevent unwanted dilution of the data's temporal resolution. The tag memory and sampling interval are reset using a magnet.

Depth Auto-Scaling
Depth Auto-Scaling automatically scales the pressure range to suit the requirements of the application to provide finer resolution and accuracy when needed. It initially records at a range of one-fourth of the instrument maximum. If that range is exceeded, it switches to half of the instrument maximum. If that is exceeded, it switches to the maximum range. This process is non-reversible.
